Art gallery

The Staedelmuseum houses a prestigious European art collection dating back to the Middle Ages and up until the present day. The museum's galleries are filled with paintings from various periods of art history, including works from the renaissance and earlier, as well as more modern pieces. The extension built in 2012 by architecture firm Schneider + Schumacher allowed for greater space to be dedicated to the museum's collection, which spans 700 years of European art.

Huge museum with lots of the Master's best works of art. Everything from Van Gogh and Picasso and Botticelli to Rodin, Renoir and everything in between!Truly wonderful museum!

Ronal Alarcon — Google review

If you're an art enthusiast and love artworks from the high renaissance era, then this place is for you. At the basem*nt, it's a vast space for contemporary art. You can stay there the whole day and enjoy all the paintings. It's a pretty relaxing place. You won't get bored going around. 👌👌👌

John Sennen Salise — Google review

Two logistics points: 1) There’s a great deal in the form of a 21 euro ticket, good for 30+ museums and two days. If it fits your schedule, it’s a great deal. Ask at the ticket desk to see the museums included. I bought the 16 euro single-day single-museum ticket and only then learned about the 21 euro version. Too late to exchange, as I was told.2) The self service lockers will are big enough for most backpacks and jackets, though not suitcases (use the manned coat room right next to the lockers, also for free). Some lockers take only 1 euro coins, some take either 1 or 2 euro coins. You get the coin back when you unlock and leave.

Handan Bao — Google review

It's a great museum. Very complete and has some beautiful pieces. It would be nice if they made the android audioguide for the Renoir exhibit available on android or through html5 on their website.

Tom Franco — Google review

I have absolutely no talent in Art or know how to appreciate it but visited Stadel Museum as it was supposed to house works from the very best artists. I wandered around the building and was thoroughly impressed with the gorgeous building and also the large variety of beautiful works (of different categories) kept in pristine condition! Just amazing….

Eric Lee — Google review

A very nice place with a huge art collection. Recommended for any art lover, with very detailed descriptions of the painting and the artist's life when creating works that go far into the past to the present day. The ticket price is 18 euros.

GPTabs GPTabs — Google review

Stadel Museum in Frankfurt is a must for art and design enthusiasts. The interior is gorgeous and creates a perfect flow through the art pieces. From classical to contemporary, the selection is fantastic. I spent four hours there without realizing it. Highly recommended.

Viva Waratah — Google review

Very nice museum for whoever is interested in fine art, make sure to come here a little early, there are quite a few paintings to go through and read about!

Audrey — Google review

One of the best museums we ever visited, particularly because of the well written explanations provided next to the paintings. These were really special compared to other museums and provided valuable information to understand the painting, the story behind it and the background of the painter.Additionally, there's a free audioguide app (covering some of the most important works) with additional detail.

UlrichS93 — Google review

Many of the great classic painters have pieces here. Enjoyed walking through but some rooms were so stifling hot that it was hard to want to stop and take in the art.

Dana Davidson — Google review

An amazing discovery. This museum offers a wonderful walk through among art over 8 centuries of history from medieval art, through renaissance, modern art till contemporary one.A special highlight goes to the very interesting and cared temporary exhibitions.Very well organised as well regarding services, accessibility and didactic areas.Absolutely recommended

Caius Bernardi — Google review

A wonderful art museum. The collection is not too big, but it's magnificent (there are works by Picasso, Monet, Renoir, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Degas and so many more)! Add to that fact that it's not overcrowded, so you can take your time in admiring the work of arts spanning 7 centuries with leisure. I would say for sure a must-visit place in Frankfurt if you love art!

Subhroneel Chakrabarti — Google review

712/23: The museum was pleasant. It had many famous 🎨 🖼 artists' paintings as well as painters 🎨 I did not know. Pretty artwork. From the 1300s onward. It was worth a visit.

P. — Google review

All parts of the museum is a definite visit. If you have a day to spare definitely come here. There is a variation of different types of art and it really is impressive. From Matisse to Pablo Picasso, this museum has everything.

Brayden Chuang — Google review

A beautiful art museum with over 700 years of artwork. There were many seats throughout the museum with books to look through with even more art. Tuesdays offer a discounted rate for tickets.

Allison — Google review

Very helpful staff. Normal price for an entrance fee to a museum like this one. Well maintained and just enough to see that it isn't too long you're dying and want to leave or too short that you feel it was a waste. Just right.

Kyle Fields — Google review

The staff there were kind and welcoming. The museum's cleanliness was also quite commendable. Every exhibit and gallery was immaculately maintained, which added to the overall charm of the place.

Luke K. — Google review

Moderately well stocked with paintings and sculptures from old masters to modern. It's a pleasant round half a mile walk, and across the river from the main drag (Willy Brandt Platz). We spent the morning looking at the special Northern Renaissance exhibition, featuring Holbein (mainly the Older).Good amenities and lifts for me to get around. We spent some time (and money) in the bookshop, where we also had nice coffee and cake.

The Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof is a grand station adorned with Neo-Renaissance accents that serves both regional and long-distance routes. The ground floor hosts platforms for long-distance trains while the underground provides access to the S-bahn and U-bahn systems. Facilities such as paid restrooms, food and beverage shops, and seating areas are available within the station.

The wonderful old architecture of the railway station🤩 During the pick time is a bit more crowded but that's everywhere. The navigation signs are still very easily visible and understandable. There is a plenty of different connections across the city near surrounding and far distance connections.Included a lot of food stores for the convenience of traveling or short stops. Thank you 🤘🏼🚀

Ales Tvrdy — Google review

This is the main station of Frankfurt. The ground floor has the platforms for all the long distance trains and the underground has access to the S-bahn and U-bahnThe station itself has a facilities such as paid WC, food and beverage shops and seating areas. But the area just outside the station is a bit dingy and shady with a lot of littering and loitering

Ranajit Banerjee — Google review

This station is the backbone of the transportation system in frankfurt as you can get Trams, metro, national and international trains from this place, but still it's not crowded as we see in many places, sometimes it's a bit confusing but one can manage if they check the details properly. Moreover sunset view is amazing from this station.

Shubham Sinha — Google review

It’s the main train station of Frankfurt where you can get train to most of the European countries. I took direct train to Linz, Austria. Although it’s a huge and crowded station but there is no proper waiting area that facilitate you during the cold weather. Tram and bus stops are available near the train station.

Maqbool Khan — Google review

It is a beautiful train station with its own architectural features. There are many convenient services in the train station, such as DB information desk, bakery selling German specialty breads, fast food restaurants, mini-markets, etc.But the sanitary condition, not particularly clean and hygienic. There are a lot of pigeons in this train station, resulting in a lot of bird poop, and there are some homeless vagrants.

??? — Google review

Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is the bustling main train station of Frankfurt. Very busy at times. There are many food kiosks and other services available. Unfortunately there are some transient/homeless people who wander through the station, asking for money. The immediate area outside the hauptbahnhof is also a little sketchy, with some open drug dealing, but it's not unsafe. Deutsche Bahn runs a very efficient service, trains run very much on time.

Holman Louis — Google review

This is the central station of Frankfurt, Frankfurt bhanhaf. Many food outlets are there. You can get Sanacks in 2 euro. We have pizza in 3 Euro. Mac D, burger King is also there. Very clean station. For oneday city pass you have to pay 5.35 Euro and for airport transfer 5.20 Euro.

Dr. Sourav Mandal — Google review

The main reason I choose Frankfurt Haputbahnhof as the starting point for my personal travel is that there are quite a variety of public transportation tools that can easily to use from day to mid-night. No matter what time it is, the crowd is obviously everywhere inside or outside this station. There is also a paid toilet on the underground floor here and a variety of restaurants are also quite sufficient for traveler's basic requirement. I hope to have the other opportunity again to take different long-distance trains here in the future.

Stanley Chang — Google review

The train station is very large and busy with lots of services to different areas. It is very busy and crowded all the time. You can also transfer to U-Baun and S-Baun inside the train station too. Furthermore, there are a lot of cafes and restaurants so that you can find your desired dishes easily

Fat Cho — Google review

Very busy train platform, but easy to locate the appropriate train based on all the signage and platform updates. There's plenty of food shops, places to sit and wait. They have luggage storage for anyone looking to leave over the day while walking the city. Wasn't many people to ask for help when trying to find something specific.

Mat Bienczyk — Google review

The train station is HUGE. Lots of places to eat or drink inside. It was not easy to find help, and finding the proper train and seats was very difficult as first timers. Our train was probably 3 or 4 hours late, easily. So weird. The bathrooms cost euros.

Karl Whinnery — Google review

A beautiful train station. It is huge and the architecture is beautiful. It brings back the old days of train travel. I just love the main terminal area where the trains arrive and depart. Plenty of shops, restaurants and places to buy drinks before or after travel. I really enjoy my visits to this station.

Michael Mack — Google review

Liked the architecture of the station. It's very huge and gorgeous. It's a typical terminus station where the railroads end in the station, so you can just walk to the end of the platform and move to another one without using the bridge. There are fast-food restaurants and convenience stores in the station.

Junhyun Kim — Google review

The train station is beautiful! It has a historical charm that reminds me of Harry Potter heading to Platform 9¾. However, I must admit that the train system can be quite complicated, especially for non-German speakers or tourists in general. The costumer service desk is not very helpful, the workers have an attitude and are not willing to help. I accidentally boarded the wrong train and ended up receiving an 80 euro fine from one of the train ticket officials. It would be great if they could be more helpful and friendly towards tourists, offering guidance and assistance when needed.

Ivan Corona — Google review

Large and efficient station, as one would expect from Germany. Trains that connect all over Germany and the rest of Europe including Amsterdam, Vienna and Basel.Tram and metro also connect to the station. Lots of electronic and physical signs so it's impossible to get the wrong train.Tons of cafe and sandwiches type places available as well as a few sit down restaurants and the usual junk fast food.Unique architecture here and it is a visual treat. Overall a very pleasant experience

Joe Macpherson — Google review

Functional and practical. This has to be the most used train station in Europe for me. I lived here for two years in the 80s; I love train so much that I make my trips around it - it was great when German DB was reliable and dependable. Not during my last few trips, especially 2022. Accidents, delays ...Oh, I'm off the topic. This station although heavily used, but I don't think it has a supermarket ... foods / coffee bars are plentiful. Some under ground tunnels feels icky. Many buses and subways merge here (duh)

Irene Eng — Google review

A nice train station with a beautiful architecture. The main train station in Frankfurt with connections to almost all major cities across Germany and Europe. Signs are very well labeled making it a bit easy to navigate your way to the right platform, especially if you don’t speak German. There are many shops and restaurants to keep you busy as you wait for your train. There are also numerous public benches if you just want to chill and not spend a dime. It wasn’t that busy when I visited but a bit rush. Pretty sure it gets chaotic during rush hours. Good thing is they have service desks where you can visit any time and an attendant will help you find your way.

Kelvin Ofula — Google review

One of the biggest train station in Germany and its Huge. The architecture of the station is awesome.Lots of places to eat or drink inside.Signs are everywhere to help you find your way around. There are plenty of restaurants and shops for refreshments.Very easy to find the right platform and trains were on time and very clean. There is a McDonald’s, donut shops, book shops and more. Toilets are all mostly clean and only costs a small charge to enter. There is a plenty of different connections across the city near surrounding and far distance connections. You can also transfer to U-Bahn and S-Bahn inside the train station too.Avoid the pedophiles and drug dealers, the pick pockets and we can see them at the Entrance and please avoid looking them.

Sights & Landmarks

The Romer, a medieval building with a stepped gable facade, is now the town hall with a balcony and many portraits. The building has served as Frankfurt's main city hall for 600 years.

The beautiful and picturesque old town is a must visit when in Frankfurt! Amazing half-timbered buildings that were once completely destroyed by Allied powers’ bombings during WWII, now rebuilt to their full glory! Drink your coffee or beer in one of the numerous cafes and beer houses on the square, admire the architecture, take photos and travel back in time with your imagination! 100% recommended!

It's one of the best if not the best town squares I've ever visited in Germany. A lot of cafés around to sit around and enjoy the old town square in it's full glory. If you want to avoid the crowd, visit it early in the morning to click a beautiful panorama.

Beautiful buildings, all rebuilt after being totally destroyed during the bombing raids on Frankfurt in WW2.

Great to walk an old city Great history and you hear a lot of stories when you're on a double decker

Definitely one of the spot to visit. So lucky to bump into the Christmas market in the area. Plenty of food and beverage at the market and the environment is lively. Easy access by public transport, walking distance to other nearby tourist spot and shopping district.

Zhi Wee — Google review

Suuuuper cute little city center, unfortunately most areas were blocked off since they were setting up for a Christmas market opening the day after we left the city. Still was able to see a lot, just not many clean pictures.

April Croes — Google review

Its nice - the only thing to see in frankfurt really, although none of it’s original of course - the entire city burnt down during the war. I guess that’s why there’s about 5 tourists in the entire city. Anyways, if you are visiting there’s like 1 tourist shop and a few cafes to outside in. The little church is super plain inside and not really worth going in

Iz — Google review

Fun little plaza with some touristy shops and cafes. Old world feel with the cobblestone and buildings towering around you.

A lovely market square and the most important landmark of Frankfurt. It has plenty of souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants and important historical monuments and structures to admire. It is a busy place on weekends with plenty of visitors. While you are there, you can visit the St. Nikolous church, History museum etc.

Römerberg is the historic heart of Frankfurt, Germany. This charming square is surrounded by picturesque half-timbered houses, giving it a medieval ambiance. The iconic Römer building, Frankfurt's city hall for over 600 years, dominates the square with its distinctive stepped gables. Römerberg is not only a historic and architectural gem but also a vibrant hub with open-air markets, cultural events, and traditional festivals. It serves as a popular gathering place for both locals and visitors, offering a glimpse into Frankfurt's rich history and providing a delightful backdrop for leisurely strolls and exploration.

Frankfurter Römer, the historic city hall of Frankfurt, is a cultural and architectural gem that serves as the symbolic heart of the city. This iconic building, with its distinctive stepped facade and three gables, stands proudly in the historic Altstadt (Old Town) and has been a witness to centuries of Frankfurt's history. The Römer's significance is not only architectural but also cultural, as it has been the site of various important events and ceremonies throughout the years. The Kaisersaal (Emperor's Hall) inside is a lavish space adorned with medieval and Renaissance artifacts, providing a glimpse into the city's past.Surrounded by quaint half-timbered houses and charming squares, the Frankfurter Römer is a focal point for both locals and visitors. The square in front of the Römer hosts public events, markets, and festivals, creating a lively atmosphere. The building's photogenic allure is enhanced by its role as the backdrop for numerous celebrations, including the city's annual Christmas market.A visit to the Frankfurter Römer is a journey through time, where the historic and contemporary elements of Frankfurt seamlessly converge. Its enduring charm makes it a must-see destination for those exploring the rich tapestry of Frankfurt's cultural heritage.

Great place to visit in Frankfurt. Pretty much everything you see it’s a reconstruction, as the original buildings were destroyed during WWII.

Stunning historical structures, main square of Frankfurt and city hall. It was too crowded when I visited there but you can take a tourist picture in front of the buildings, buy magnets etc.from souvenir shops and also grab a beer and walk the streets or lots of authentic cafes to stop by. There are also another charming old buildings like old opera and frankfurt cathedral nearby. It was such a great spot!

Uzay Onat Kalın — Google review

Perhaps it’s the most iconic spot of the city.A nice square between the Old Opera House and the Main river ferries. I go often bec of the eateries there. The many cafes are decent and one of them is my local friends’ favorite - they held their last three big one there - today we celebrated at their home with a dozen of close friends.… gone off the topic againMany couples got married at the old city hall.

Sights & Landmarks

Frankfurt Cathedral is a beautiful and imposing cathedral located in the heart of the city. The cathedral was built in a medieval gothic style, and its impressive decoration represents a marvelous architectural and artistic accomplishment. It is a must-see for visitors and locals alike, who will be amazed by the grandeur and majestic decoration of this historic religious site.

Gothic architecture at its finest, I couldn’t get enough of any view of Frankfurt that includes this amazing cathedral! The interior is not as impressive, but still beautiful. In the entrance you ‘ll also read about the church and old town during WWII, so interesting. I don’t know if any visits up the tower are permitted, but I ‘ll love to climb up there next time I’m in Frankfurt!

Thomas K — Google review

Frankfurt Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew, is an architectural masterpiece that should not be missed by anyone visiting Frankfurt. Located in the heart of the city, this stunning Gothic cathedral is a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of its builders.Upon entering the cathedral, one is immediately struck by the soaring heights of the nave, which is supported by a series of graceful arches. The stained glass windows, which depict scenes from the Bible, are a particularly striking feature, casting a warm glow over the interior of the cathedral. In addition to its architectural beauty, the cathedral is also home to a number of important works of art, including several statues and paintings by notable artists. The altar, in particular, is a work of art in its own right, adorned with intricate carvings and gold leaf.Overall, Frankfurt Cathedral is a must-see for anyone interested in architecture or art. Its beauty and grandeur are truly breathtaking, and it serves as a testament to the enduring power of faith. Whether you are a tourist or a local, I highly recommend paying a visit to this stunning cathedral

Kutay ?etin — Google review

Beautiful architecture inside and out. You can enter the church for free, recommended donation if you want to light a candle. If you want to climb the steps to the top, there’s a freestanding ticket booth outside the church on the side closest to the river (opposite side from the church entrance). Once you pay, there’s a small wooden door to the spiral steps and you’re in your way to an incredible view 300+ steps above the ground.Know that it’s a narrow spiral stone staircase most of the time. The outer wall has a metal handrail and the inner wall has a rope handrail that is pulled taut (close enough to the stone that my mom broke her nail on the stone wall while clutching it for dear life lol). Some sections have small windows and/or lights near the ceiling but the steps are still rather dark in most places so I used my phone’s flashlight the entire climb so we didn’t miss a step. If you come across other people going in the other direction, someone will have to stop because it is extremely narrow. At the top you can walk the perimeter of the tower. There’s fencing and I felt safe even with high winds, stone benches built into the tower, and small trash bins at the top. Happy climbing!

Catherina Mueller — Google review

Make the most of your layover by taking an Uber to the old part of town and visiting this spectacular cathedral. Buy a ticket for a couple of euros and go up the tower for a 360 view of the city. (Believe me, if I can do it, you can definitely climb those many many stairs up to the very top) After the climb, it’s time to enter the cathedral. I found it to be the perfect blend of clean lines of the building which highlight the sculptures. Found the atmosphere inside to be peaceful and serene. Don’t miss the hidden chapel behind the quiet room. The small museum in the building is also worth a visit.

G L — Google review

I thought that this was a reconstruction but it’s actually the real Cathedral of Frankfurt. It was spared during the WWII bombing. From the outside seems impressive, but once you get inside you will realize it’s actually smaller than you thought.Great visit!

Looking for a breathtaking and awe-inspiring destination in Frankfurt? Then be sure to check out the magnificent Frankfurt Cathedral! This beautiful church is one of the city's most iconic landmarks and is definitely not to be missed. Inside, you'll find an abundance of incredible art and architecture that will take your breath away. This is one place that you won't want to miss during your visit to Frankfurt! This absolutely stunning and gorgeous church is right in the heart of Frankfurt.

An oldest Catholic Church in the center of the City Frankfurt. With a beautiful architecture so spacious and good ventilation. The Cathedral is the only building that survived from bombing attack in the second world War. The statues and the station of the cross and all the interior of the church is very beautiful. So refreshing and spiritually refreshing. A place worth visiting.

Yemesrach Assefa — Google review

A beautiful cathedral that somehow survived the flattening of Frankfurt in WWII.The soaring columns feels like you're in a forest of giant trees. The organ is absolutely gorgeous.

kurt d ruckdeschel — Google review

An extraordinary cathedral . I believe made entirely of pink sandstone. Very elegant and even majestic decorations and look to this cathedral! Not to be missed if you are visiting old Frankfurt.

Carl Cencig — Google review

Beautiful church restored after WW2. Well worth a visit. Multiple locations in it are awe inspiring. We didn’t get struck by lightning as non believers.

Karl Whinnery — Google review

Very interesting cathedral. You can walk all the way up and get the 360 view. Beautiful church restored after WW2.

Ajay Bhardwaj — Google review

If you are looking for a fantastic view of Frankfurt, make sure to visit the spire of the cathedral. It is quite a walk up there, but it is worth the effort. However, you won't be able to go to the very top.If you want to get that special view, you need to book a tour into the roof. On this tour they also take you to the very top of the spire where you will find a little museum and a view that very few people have seen. You will also get to see the Gloriana, the bell of the cathedral. With 11.950 kg it is a heavy-weight and you might even be allowed to hit it once (As I was allowed.)The tour is incredible, but it is only offered a few times a year and you have to book a long time in advance. Ask at the ticket counter.

Marc Remus — Google review

Not the most beautiful or impressive cathedral in Europe, but well worth a visit. It certainly has one of the more interesting organs around, with the organ pipes being all-over. It is good that the dome is very regularly used for its intended cause, which however means that tourists need to time their visit well if they just want to have a look, without participating in a church service.

Thomas Meyer — Google review

Amazing cathedral. There was a baptism going on when I was there. The organ was playing. How beautiful! I felt at peace inside. The sounds and the sites were glorious.

Joanna Ferguson — Google review

An absolute must if in Frankfurt. The architecture is truly amazing and will leave you open mouthed in awe. It's busy but you can still find a quiet place of contemplation and prayer. There are numerous beautiful alters, shrines, artworks and more. And the intricate ceilings are fantastic. It's really easy to find as it towers above old town. So you can't really miss it. Free entry for the main building. The viewpoint allows you to see the whole city and provides some truly astonishing views. It's only 3 euros to access but be warned there are hundreds of narrow stairs with and it's very difficult to cross paths with someone.

Joe Macpherson — Google review

I did not visit all the way inside. It requires ticket and need to purchase in advance (recommended) if you plan to spend 2-3 hours during your visit. I visited front entrance place and seemed good.

Sam — Google review

We were at the New Old Town and saw this cathedral from afar and it beckoned us so we made our way to it.The red stone looks really amazing in the light. We climbed up to the tower, all 350 steps. The way up can be quite narrow at some parts and can get rather claustrophobic. But, the view upstairs is beautiful andworth the climb!

Natalie lim — Google review

Very interesting cathedral. You can walk all the way up and get the 360 view. There are many stairs, it seems endless like my efforts to have a successful gambling session. But eventually the pain and stairs end as I hope for my losing streak.

Johnny G — Google review

Absolutely amazing cathedral near the East side of the old town, you can see this amazing architecture from a few distance. No problem to get inside, however, may be dependant on time - there some areas tourists are not allowed in, so be wary.

Mat Bienczyk — Google review

Beautiful architectural and religious piece of art. Important to know that this site was the location where German kings used to be crowned. A large part of this cathedral and all surroundings was rebuilt after massive destruction during WW II, so I understand that not much of it remains in original state.

Ramiro Oviedo-Paulauski — Google review

Very cool looking cathedral. It kind of looks like it's burnt with the unique color choice. It's a near the water edge, so it's very easily accessible. Really a must see if you visit Frankfurt.

Fine dining restaurant

The Main Tower Restaurant & Lounge offers stunning views of Frankfurt from its53rd floor bar. It's a favorite spot for bankers and visitors alike, with dishes including international cuisine.

Wonderful restaurant with delicious, creative food at the top of a highrise in downtown Frankfurt. Everything served was individually prepared with the utmost attention to detail. The knowledgeable staff explained every dish chef prepared with complete understanding. The wine pairings complemented and completed every dish. Just when we thought we were done, a wonderful assortment of petite four arrived to finish our delicious meal. The only issue is there is no parking on site, but a parking garage is a couple blocks down the street.

Bryant Middleton — Google review

We wanted to have some drinks on a Thursday’s evening. When we arrive, they told us with 2 doses you need to have a test. So we went outside to do test waiting 20 minutes outside for our results to enter the restaurant. When we came second time with our results, they told us we should have a reservation. We called and then the security told us we should order 30 euro per person minimum. So we went away…Seems they didn’t want us, like their guests.PS two stars just for Corona safety checks, otherwise one star.

MainTower Lounge offers a delightful escape with its friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and stunning city vistas. A must-visit for those seeking relaxation and a picturesque setting.

I would give more than 5 stars if i could do. Everything is perfect. Very good service. Beautiful view. Amazing creative food. Very delicious. We reserved a table for 3 course dinner for our wedding anniversary last year and this year. The price is quiet expensive. But worth it. We want to go for fantastic dinner here to celebrate our wedding anniversary every year.

Since I live in Frankfurt (which is about 3 years) I've always wished to experience this amazing Panorama Restaurant, highlight of the city. I had luck, as I called only 10min before my arrival to book a table, and had luck to receive one (normally one needs to book days earlier, and sometimes weeks).Needless to say I was amazed with the beautiful panorama and the simple, yet sophisticated interior of the restaurant.Food was absolutely delicious. Some of the ingredients were complete new to me (as I usually stick to me personally known recepies).Every course was presented in details by the competent and very polite and professional waiter.Special thanks to the waiter Mr. Wilhelm (I hope I rememmber correctly) who made our experienced so pleasant. With regards to the price, I would not say it is expensive. The price suits the overall sensation (the spectacular view and meals) + location.Best Regards,Nevena

Absolutely recommend this restaurant. Food is delicious and you will have fantastic view of Frankfurt.I would like to thank the staff and especially our waiter. They are super professional and friendly.Don’t forget to reserve a table before you go there.Looking forward to come again.

After revamping their menu and concept the food is even better than it used to be, whereas it was once excellent now it's phenomenal. It's an experience in itself to be served by the professional team, many special thanks to Mr. Willi.

Excellent lunch and excellent service. Prix Fixe menu with either two or three courses and two choices at each course. I did the three courses with a wine pairing with each course. Fabulous views at every table. Restaurant is on 53rd floor. Allow 5-10 minutes wait for security screening and elevator which is also taking tourists to 55th floor observation deck. They pay 7.50 each for that. No charge if going to restaurant.

ernest manuel — Google review

Very nice restaurant and bar, friendly staff and ambiance. I i came here after finishing the main tower top floor. Drinks are of reasonable price and the seatings allow you to enjoy the view of the city from up high. I did not eat anything so cannot comment on the quality of the food, however where given truffle infused popcorn as a side to my beer and it tastes amazing.

Ark Huynh (Long) — Google review

Food was mostly good - appetizers and co*cktails were very good, main courses were mediocre, desserts were many different things that were good but did nothing for each other. The service was both patronizing and charming. It was obvious the waitress thought we are not sophisticated enough for the restaurant because we didn't have a reservation and were not dressed. We found it mostly amusing, as the food was very old fashioned as in strong 80s influences in the presentation and mix of overpowering flavors. For example, the lobster bisque was more of a fish bouillon with strong saffron presence. It was good - but it has been a long time since I ate something like that. The lamb main dish was excellent; the veal was very boring, both the meat and the baked pasta that accompanied it. The sweetbread that made me order it was hardly noticeable. Fish was ok, no more and no less. The view compensates for almost everything and it was pleasant and fun. If you are willing to spend at least €80 per person before drinks you can do much worse.

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

Frankfurt Zoological Garden is a large zoo that features exotic animals from all over the world, including some of the most popular such as zebras, lions, and monkeys. The zoo also has an extensive collection of plant life and offers plenty of activities for visitors such as animal feedings and guided tours.

Must to be visited if you're in Frankfurt, especially with the children. Zoo itself mostly looks like a big park. If would be better to do it during the sunny days, son you fully enjoy your visit.Again, labels and boards with explanation of the animals, insects, reptiles on German only.Try to get a face mask on you before entering or get the one it at the main entrance - mandatory when visiting "apes world" - otherwise precise Germans will remind you about it every 3rd step while inside.

Vita Muradov — Google review

I visited Zoo Frankfurt with my 2 1/2 year old son. We enjoyed seeing the nice variety of animals and the facilities were fairly clean. We were able to find ample parking at a nearby parking garage. Unlike several of the zoos we have been to, most of the exhibits were hard for our 2 1/2 year old son to see on his own. The viewing glass was often too high for him and I would have to hold him. Also the glass in most of the exhibits were hard to see through. These were the only two downsides to the zoo and other than that, we enjoyed our time there.

Justin O — Google review

Very nice zoo to visit especially with kids, saw my favorite animal the rhino. But some animals are missing one early day visit is enough to see the whole zoo. And don't miss the midget goat farm where you can pet the goats

majid abdullah — Google review

AWFUL ZOO!!! If anyone likes or loves animals - you shouldn't visit. In my opinion, it's ANIMAL ABUSE. The animals are in the worst conditions I've ever seen: small cages, not enough greenery if at all!!!! The monkeys are sitting on the concrete floor in a tiny cage, the rhinoceros' bones are seen through it's skin, he was so skinny. The food that was given to the monkeys was wheat. In order to be healthy, monkeys have to eat fruit and veggies. I am a person that loves animals, and I wanted to cry. I think animal rights organization has to be involved.

5 stars despite no lions and one house temporarily closed. The rest of the zoo made up for it. Good sized enclosures. Healthy animals. Fascinating aquarium. Seeing penguins from under water a special experience.

Richard Leathem — Google review

Nice place. But not so many options. Whatever they have, most of them are either sleeping or at their home. Cannot be visible!.But nice place for recreation.

Thouhedul Islam Suchi — Google review

Amazing to see a zoo maintained in the middle of such a busy City. Had reasonably good collection of animals. But the cages are built to provide closer to natural ambiance for the animals that in several cages the animals are probably inside their resting area that they are not visible for visitors. From the animals point of view it is good for them that they are not disturbed too much. But from visitors point of view it might be disappointment that we could not see some of them. Also the water in the reservoirs are not that clean. Though it was really good some thing was not giving me full satisfaction to give a 4 or 5 start. This is probably the first time I see a zoo having ants, fly, several varieties of rates and bats. Highlights are Penguins, apes and reptiles house.

Srinivasan Gopalan — Google review

My visit to Frankfurt Zoo in 2014 was an exceptional experience that left me thoroughly impressed and delighted. This zoo is a true gem, offering a perfect blend of conservation, education, and entertainment for visitors of all ages. The wide variety of animal species and the well-designed enclosures created an immersive and authentic experience. It was evident that the zoo's focus on animal welfare and conservation was a top priority, as the animals seemed content and well-cared for in their naturalistic habitats. One of the highlights was the Grzimek House, where I had the incredible opportunity to witness a vibrant ecosystem with free-flying birds, wandering reptiles, and curious mammals living together harmoniously. This unique exhibit was a fantastic educational experience that showcased the interconnectedness of different species. The zoo's dedication to education was evident through informative signage and interactive displays, allowing visitors to learn about the animals' behaviors, habitats, and the importance of conservation efforts. Additionally, the friendly and knowledgeable staff was readily available to answer questions and share their passion for wildlife. The family-friendly atmosphere, including playgrounds and picnic areas, made it a great place for a day of fun and exploration. The zoo's convenient location in the heart of Frankfurt also added to the overall convenience of the visit.Frankfurt Zoo truly exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city. It's a place where both children and adults can connect with nature and wildlife, fostering a sense of appreciation for the natural world and the need for its preservation. A five-star experience all the way!

Sayak Das — Google review

The location is easily reachable by train. It has variety of animals. Some of them are placed inside of some building and some of them are placed outside.I was happy because I was lucky enough to see 2 tortoise mating in real life. 🤣🤣🤣

Sitia Lestari — Google review

It was a nice zoo! I went during winter so I didn't expect all the animals to be out, but there were definitely a lot of really good exhibits and a lot of animals that you can still see. It only costs about 12€.

Thomas Berry — Google review

What an amazing zoo! My teenage son and I spent 4 hours exploring the zoo and enjoyed it. We arrived right at opening time on a Saturday and it was not too busy. There are so many areas to walk and there is a playground for the kids as well!10/10 would recommend visiting and spending a few hours there. The gift shop and snack stands are great and reasonably priced. Tickets can be purchased online or in person.

Tela Royston — Google review

The zoom is worth the money. There is no need to book the ticket online; they will give you a one-euro deduction with the one-day travel pass.

Anandaraman Kaippillil Ramachandran — Google review

Nice and big pool with a big outdoor area. The pool seems to be quite new and modern. Plenty of space everywhere but the pool tends to be very full on sunny and warm days. Kids will have loads of fun on the slide outside (although the water in the outdoor pool was a bit cold for us), bigger kids will enjoy the big tube slide indoors. The water in the indoor pools was much warmer. There is a fun bar in the indoor pool, serving co*cktails, you can pay with the badge you get as the locker key, so no need to carry money.

Julia Wolter — Google review

Love the organization during the pandemic with time sloths and buying tickets in advance. Even during the warmest period it wasn’t too crowded. The toilets could be cleaner, they were really smelly.Although my kids are not there yet, the way they decide who pays the adult tickets is nonsense- they have 1€ price for kids under 99cm, everyone else pays normal adult ticket.🙄

Lejla Sator — Google review

Considering that this is newly built just a few years ago, the cost of the build and the cost of entrance the design of some things are very poor.Overall I would not say that this is friendly enough for families. There are very few cubicles suitable for more than one person, and 2 adults and one small child is very right squeeze. The bench is barely big enough to sit on, not enough hanging hooks and serious lack of space.Baby changing facilities are terrible and there is a lack of understanding of the needs of kids. The pools themselves are ok, but again suffer from bad design. The baby splash pool is separated from the others, so you can't look after a baby in there and keep an eye on larger kids in the kids pool. The kids pool also doubles as the relaxing pool with various relaxation features for adults. But this means that the kids in the pool have less room for playing because (mostly elderly) adults want to relax and are not considerate of the kids needs. The showers are also very badly designed. It is possible to look into the mens and see them showering naked and going to the toilet as there are no doors or barriers. The ladies has a small barrier but not much better. The showers also offer no privacy from each other and there is only one small place to hang your towel in the middle of the room. So you have to walk to/from the shower to this location naked to get your towel where everybody can see in!

Renaissance-era castle drawing visitors year round for themed shows, holiday markets & dining.

I recently had the pleasure of attending one of the best festivals I've ever experienced in Germany! The costumes were absolutely wonderful, and the program was incredibly entertaining. From start to finish, I was completely captivated by the unique and engaging performances. The attention to detail in the costumes and overall production was truly impressive, making the festival a truly immersive experience. I highly recommend this festival to anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind cultural experience in Germany. It is truly a must-see event that will leave you with memories to last a lifetime!

We came here for the Christmas market and it just may be my favorite Christmas market. It's set in a medieval castle and the market expands from outside to all inside the castle. Very cool! Has a very authentic medieval market feel and lots of homemade gifts, lots of things you wouldn't find at traditional markets. Lots of people dress up in medieval attire which was also cool. Lots of really good food options as well. The market is only open certain weekends, so plan in advance!

Great place I would go there again. For a fee you are able to go in. There is a lot to see. You can climb the stairs to the top of a tower and see the country side in every direction. Such a great view.

It is an 800year old castle with a lot of history. You will be taken into the many rooms that has been turned into a solemnization of marriage. Some rooms have been turned into activities room. The kitchen brought you to old times and the well is a great architecture of the olden times.

What an amazing place to see, The Ronneburg ist a pretty special place to me. As a kid I spent a lot of time here exploring the old castle and it's surroundings. The original part of the Castle was built in the 1300's.The Well house of the Ronneburg ist definitely a visitor favorite. The Well at an original depth of 436 feet, the water table today is about 275 feet. Personally it's hard for me to comprehend how they even built this 100's of years ago without modern machinery. Listen to how long it takes for the water to hit bottom. This should definitely be on the list of must see places.

David Scragg — Google review

Amazing. The only difference between here and Renaissance faires in the US is that the backgrounds are real. That’s pretty significant honestly. I loved learning about life in an old castle and it’s goings on. If I’m ever back I’ll have to check out the Knight Tournaments!!!

Nice castle with its unique Castle day event in the beginning of October. A lot of medival dressed up people, tents with medival crafts presented, different current time food options, fur, leather and medival style clothes and asessories, knives and swords. Dressed up bands playwing castle music on that time instruments and small performances with jokes are there too to intertain the crowd. The only one thing I wish was there - cooked medival style food you can get instead of common brats with french fries 🍟. I would pay extra and wait in line just to see my food cooked in a big medival pot)) food cooked by dressed up tent owners was cooked for their own group. There were few parking lots open, all for 3 euro.

We really enjoyed Ronneburg Castle, especially during Walpurgisnacht, where witches, fairies, jesters, and many characters from fairy tales and the Middle Ages come to life. There was a market with a variety of goods, all stylized to fit the medieval theme. At the market, you could also taste cherry beer and sausages - there was something for everyone! You could also enter the castle and walk up the stairs, where you could eat onion soup or simply enjoy tea or coffee with cake. There were also many activities for children, such as a carousel, archery, and face painting. The tower was particularly memorable, as it offered a breathtaking view that was worth waiting in line for about 20 minutes.

We visited during the mediaeval Christmas market and had a great time. The stalls were interesting and generally well priced. The food and drink stalls received most of my money. A part of the market is held inside the castle with some emulation of how life might have been back in the day. Priests sang and led ceremonies in the chapel, cooks kept the kitchen fire going.

Hessenpark is an open-air museum located in Bad Homburg, showcasing over 100 regional timber-framed houses and offering insights into traditional Hessian life. The park spans a large area and features disassembled homes from various parts of the province, which are reassembled for preservation. Visitors can witness rural crafts demonstrations and historical exhibitions while exploring the centuries-old village. Additionally, there are craftsmen on-site showcasing processes like ink dying.

Visited the opening weekend of the 2023 Weihnachtsmarkt. Very nice small-town market with mostly local handmade items. The park is an open-air museum with dozens of restored Hessian buildings - quite a lot fun any time of the year, but be sure to dress for the weather.

We loves our visit here. So many beautiful buildings, scenery and very interesting to learn about the history of Hessen. The staff is super friendly! The staff from the restaurant closest to the playground were excellent. The waiter was very helpful and nice. The manager of the restaurant was welcoming and even made my son a balloon elephant when he was crying. It made my son’s day.The playground is wonderful! So much to do and well made.Highly recommend for a nice day trip outside of the city.

A recommendation for a Sunday excursion. The kids will love it, it needs almost the whole day to visit every single house and see every attraction with animals. There is a restaurant for lunch or dinner and some kiosks to grab a drink or a snack during the walk. Keep in mind that the streets are not very stroller friendly.

Georgios Manthoulis — Google review

We always have a good time here! It's huge with many things to see and do. There's a market place near the entrance. Then there's also a nice-sized playground for the little ones. Many farm animals to see, and a great place to walk.

Hessenpark is a captivating cultural gem that offers a delightful journey through history. The meticulously preserved buildings and authentic exhibits showcase the rich heritage of the Hessen region. Walking through the park feels like stepping back in time, with each structure telling a unique story. The attention to detail and commitment to historical accuracy are commendable, creating an immersive experience for visitors. Whether exploring traditional houses, artisan workshops, or the beautiful landscapes, Hessenpark provides a fascinating glimpse into the past. It's a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking a charming blend of education and enjoyment.

Absolute highlight in the Rhine Main region - especially for families! Original old Hessen houses from the last centuries rebuild to a village landscape. Also good playground and historical shops. Recommended!

Lovely place to spend a day out (also with kids). Good to learn about our past and how things were done ages ago.You can go there also for shopping (food, drinks, clothes and decoration/accessoires). The windmills are impressive and in almost every house you find another exhibition. Was there three times and never got disappointed.

AndyundSarah — Google review

The Hessenpark is a wonderfully maintained centuries old village. In addition, they disassemble old homes from other parts of the province and bring them here for reassembly and preservation. The park is on a large land area, likely over a thousand acres. Think historic Williamsburg without trying to be touristy. There are craftsmen on site, and certain processes like ink dying are shown. We were there in summer and fruits were ripe and you could pick cherries and other fruit from the trees. The hiking trail takes you around the site. Don’t miss the windmill. You can climb up inside and see how it works.

Tony Kehlhofer — Google review

This place was SO large. I took my 5 year old and we spent several hours there and still didn't see everything. All the neat little houses and businesses you get to see inside of. My son loved all the animals around the place, especially the rabbits. We really enjoyed climbing into the windmill.

Vanessa Czolada — Google review

Great place to see old German culture. The do activities for kids which they look very interesting but no even for kids the place is good. You can walk freely in an old German village, enter at the houses and find old stuff and crafts. There are also some small shops and a bar.

Andreu — Google review

Super interesting! It's an air park, there are lots of small old German houses and inside of every of them museums are. You need to buy a ticket and then you are free to stay there as long as you want to. There is a Cafe, bakery, small shops etc. where you can have a rest and eat. There is also a small lake. What is interesting that all houses are built like in different parts of Hessen and it's written. F.e. You can see tilling roofs in the northem part and straw ones in tne southem. Super interesting. I would recomend to go earlier cos after 17-18 all houses (museums, shops, Cafe etc) start to close and the last bus is at 18.30!!! Be careful. Very good place!

Points of Interest & Landmarks

The Limburg Cathedral is a remarkable Romanesque structure built on a rock with enchanting fairy tale spires. It showcases medieval art both inside and outside, making it truly special. Visitors can park their vehicles below and enjoy a leisurely stroll up to the cathedral for maximum pleasure. The exterior of the cathedral is beautiful, adorned with lovely bells while the interior exudes a nice ambiance due to chanting from somewhere in the transept and historic art spanning several centuries throughout.

We saw this Cathedral on our way to burg Eltz, (from Frankfurt) we thought of checking it out. Oh boy, we took the right decision! The cathedral was very cute and little different than other cathedrals we visited recently. It had 3 floors (upstairs) and looks simple but elegant. There is a nice view of the town from left side of the cathedral. We visited on Sat (28th Oct). It was open and free entry. There were pretty good amount of visitors, even in a gloomy day. But the best thing was, the town! Such a gorgeous, cute little town, the fishmarket (no fishy smell or nothing like that), and all those beautiful patterned colorful German houses! Even their shed (gartenhaus) had to be the same pattern, painted like those houses!! I would surly recommend anyone to visit this town and enjoy the beauty and bless them by eating in one of their restaurant.

Really special, quote old and with lovely frescos inside and out. Park somewhere down below and meander your way up for maximal enjoyment. I managed to carry my infant all the way up, in, and around and she was delighted. Bring .50 to buy the small pamphlet (in your option of several languages) or 3€ for the booklet. The Dom‘s exterior is beautiful and has lovely bells, and the interior has a nice ambiance with chanting coming from somewhere in the transept and several centuries of historic art throughout. As cathedrals go it’s really special!

I liked this place a lot. It's architecture and symmetry. Be attentive to the details! There are a lot of hidden gems here! An awesome place for those who enjoy taking photos of unusual design.

We really loved this Outlet! It has a lot of stores with very good prices! (almost in everything) when we were there the parking was free, but I am not sure if it is always like that! We will for sure visit again!

Nena X — Google review

Very clean and accurate outlets the prices are not so low, and I didn’t see luxury Brands, have been there more than two times and curios to see the place during real seasonal sales or fashion sale times

Ruzanna Konjoryan — Google review

A shopping center with a modern design, spacious and open-air, easy and quick access from the A3 freeway in both directions Frankfurt and Köln, shopping is enjoyable and has a variety of brands, as well as light food and drink. There are interesting offers in general, good prices and variety. The stores are quite spacious. It is worth the visit.

Thomas Koch — Google review

Great place ))) The loveliest place of my wife)) you can find almost any brand) good prices, good choices, good mood of people. Even if you don’t buy anything you may see many happy faces there and happy atmosphere )

Nuri Dzhelyalov — Google review

If you are looking for some Branded Stuff this is the place. Has a very good Train connection to this outlet. Parking place is plenty and free for initial parking time of ~2hrs(I don't remember exactly, as I visited on Black Friday)

Naveen Reddy S — Google review

Nice brands outlet shopping centre in GermanyOpen top outlet mall

Abdelmonem Jamal — Google review

If one is looking for the usual shops like Nike or Tommy Hilfiger etc., you are definitely right here. All the prices are lowered by a lot, some even over 100 euros. It has public bathrooms and everything is wheelchair accessible. The parking lot is quite big, and you are able to park for four hours for free. Every hour afterwards costs two euros. I do have to say that it only has the basic shops and a few more unique shops, meaning that you could also get this in a normal shopping mall. The only plus point is that, as it is an outlet, it is cheaper than usual. I can recommend it if you aren't looking for something too special. It also has a few places to get food and drinks. On the weekends, holidays and in summer it can get quite full. The same goes for after school or work, when ther is nice weather. In these cases it could get hard to find a place to park, however, there are usually enough. The train station is also near by. In overall it is quite well connected.(As a tip for maybe a few new Shops, many Teenagers today shop at Pull&Bear, Bershka, Hollister, Forever 21 or Urban Outfitters)

Franziska Henkes — Google review

You will not find many global brands but location is far away from Dusseldorf. So I will not recommend to waste your time to get something from there if not necessary. Enjoy

Erhan — Google review

3hours free parking, the outlet was fine, many stores and brands, but the stores are not big enough. And the toilets are very dirty, not fit for such an outlet.

One of its kind hanging train. The train is in service from early 1900's. An amazing engineering feat! The Bahn Route covers scenic places. It runs above river, roads. Try to occupy the last seat as it provides the best visual treat!

Amazing experience and a highlight when you are in Wuppertal. Just take a ride from one end to the other.Consider checking the schedules because the Schwebebahn is often in maintenance mode.

P B — Google review

Only runs on weekends right now. But if you keep that in mind, it's a very affordable and unique tourist attraction. Great way to see a beautiful city. Buy the all-day ticket and hop on and off. Don't forget to learn about the famous elephant who rode the train

Markus Gutschke — Google review

Elevatated train from 1901 is a must see. It costs €14.50 for a 3-person 24-hour ticket that includes buses.

James O'Brien — Google review

Bahn is great fun, but pnr didnt work there it was hard to left the car

Mateusz Kowalski — Google review

It's a very good experience for a one time ride. The trains were nice and clean. Lines are beautifully constructed over the central canal through the city. The views of the surrounding hills are also nice.Tips: The tail end seats offer the best views. It's a bit noisy ride.

Al-amin Nowshad — Google review

I was told about this suspension railway and recommended to try it. I joined at Kluse (one stop down from the main train station, next to the cinema) and grabbed a ticket - although cheap (only 1.70) I found the machine doesn't take credit card, so come prepared with coins. The railway isn't big - only two carriages - but they are pretty frequent so if you miss one (or it's full), you don't have long to wait for the next. The carriages have been modernised: they're brightly-lit with clean seats that don't look worn in any way. Sitting at the back gives a good view down the river and along the roads during the trip, but as I tried it last evening in winter most of my trip was quite dark.I travelled south-west all the way to Vohwinkel (the terminal stop) where it's possible to see the other carriages parked, so there's quite a few cars. I then grabbed the one on the other side and travelled back the other way.Quite leisurely, a pretty smooth ride and fairly quick, given the age of the technology. Well worth the trip!

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

Dortmund Zoo is a lush animal park that houses a diverse range of approximately 250 species, predominantly from South America. It charges $19 for two adults and four children to enter. Although some areas are currently under construction, the zoo remains a splendid destination for families with enjoyable activities for both parents and children alike.

This zoo is very nice! For €7,50 per adult and free parking in October the price is really low.The majority of people says this zoo is small but I disagree and think this zoo is actually pretty large. A lot of well made habitats, however I do have to agree that some look like they could use a little attention. But this zoo is based on naturalism, so I think it’s fine.A lot of opportunities to see animals from up close and take good photos. Also some (very )special species, like the black jaguar, clouded leopard and red panda. If you want to you can spend the whole day here, there’s enough to watch. Most of the animals are very active, unlike in many other zoo’s where the majority of the animals are sleeping. The only negatives were the constructions, which made it impossible to see some animals. Also, the animal information in mainly only German and mostly cash only payments at food stands. But overall, especially for the price this park is very good! There were also very little people, al though we did visit on a Monday.

Yurivdb — Google review

The zoo is located just near the Hacheny station and is accessible easily with U Bahn. No instructing brochure or map. A selection variety of animals. In my opinion, most not kept in optimal condition. It can be a good and instructive day for the kids though. Restaurants, Cafe and WC available. The highlight of the zoo are Rhinos and the Urangutans. I personally am not a fan of or pro zoos. We keep other creatures in captivity with cruelty. It should be really heartbreaking for the animals behind the fences to see that the other birds fly in and out the fences freely.

Samad Golzari — Google review

A lovely zoo, €19 entry fee for 2 adults and 4 kids. It’s only a pity that there are many places closed in the zoo. They are under construction.

Pearl Xia — Google review

Small Zoo, but perfect for spending a couple of hours. We hvae visited during early March when it was not a season, but still nice, and in spring or summer I can imagine it is even better as Zoo is in perfect park where botanical garden is. You can reach the Zoo with U49 and than walk like 500 meters.

Djordje Djokic — Google review

It was awesome but I'd advice you not to go there during winter. We kept taking warm breaks during animal visits hehe. The staffs are so friendly and eager to answer your questions.

adyline C — Google review

a really wonderful place that I would visit a few more times. There is fun for children and parents!

Miroslav Dikov — Google review

Small zoo with its fair share of animals. Easily walkable. The staff at the front desk was really helpful, although, they only took cash for tickets and no cards. Since it was off season so the cafeteria was closed for renovation.

Madhur Bhargava — Google review

Much better than what I was expecting. I just found water and snacks to be very expensive compared to North America (bottle of water is around 4 euros).

Pouya Sabokruhie — Google review

Great value for the price.Did not know what to expect before we went, and was pleasantly surprised by what we got to see for the price ee paid.Sadly some animals were not in their habitat because of construction projects.Disclaimer: don't expect a premium zoo.

Stan v. Hartingsveldt — Google review

A complete failure. no information about the fact that you can't pay by card, after waiting 20 minutes in the queue, where, of course, there are two open ones out of 4, the lady happily states that they only accept some German EC card. I wish there was an ATM at the entrance, but no, it's a 2km walk from the entrance to the zoo. Parking, of course, also pays only in cash, it's the 21st century!

Paweł Wieczorek — Google review

Wow, we are very impressed with how well the enclosures have been taken care of. The animals looked healthy, and relaxed. The zoo itself was also very clean. There is a nice bird collection and the mom orang-utan with the newborn stole the show for us. A rare sight. The entrance price is also very nice. The zookeepers are also very nice and love to tell you about the animals that they work with.Would definitely recommend to visit this zoo!

Daniëlle L — Google review

Nice large zoo with friendly staff. 3€ parking fee that has to be paid with cash. Some free parking space further away. Map is included in price. Feeding times are naturally the best time to visit. There are few small places to eat. We visited Indian style place. Portions were large and pretty good. Worth visiitin. Child friendly.

Samu Kahila — Google review

I loved this zoo, not too big, but very nice, in the middle of a beautiful park. There are some very interesting animals like tapir, ant-eater and rhinos. All of these just at arm's length. Outside of the zoo there is a n astonishing beautiful botanical garden. Really enjoyed it and recommend

Park

Nature & Parks

Westfalenpark is a vast and spacious park that boasts of a rosarium, mini train, observation deck with a café, and outdoor event spaces. The park is surrounded by trees which provide shade and create a relaxing ambiance for visitors. It's home to ducks and birds who roam freely around the area. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, mass gatherings were prohibited but now visitors can spend quality time with their friends and family at the park.

A park with wide space and trees. You can not imagine how pleasant you will feel if you visit the place. I have visited twice this place and I loved the place. You can walk around, have relaxation in the sitting chair. There are ducks and birds freely roaming around. Due to COVID-19 mass gatherings were not permitted, but now it's no longer applicable. So you guys can spend some quality time with your family and friends there. You just have to pay a very little amount of entry fee for tickets. But you cannot go in and out several times with the same ticket. Only one entry and exit is possible. There are wide space for parking too.

Mohammed Rafsan Hussain — Google review

This park is one of the most beautiful parks which i have visited so far in Germany. Specially it is beautiful during the spring because of flowers and green nature 😍. It has fee for entrance and you have to pay 3.5 to visit it but it really worth because the park is so huge and fantastic. Wben you go there be ready to take a lot of photos from yourself because that could be really cool for your instagram profile photo 😉. It has many entrances and exits but i recommend to enter the main entrance because it is near Ubahn. For reaching the park you can simply take one Ubahn from Dortmund Hbf and reach the park after around 5 stations. There is a tower in the park which is so high and you can pay more 2 Euros and go to the top of it by elevator. Also there are some restaurants and cafe in the park which you can eat or have coffe or snack as well as food there. I don't recommend to go there alone because you need someone to take photo from you 😉

Mohammadreza Saghazadeh — Google review

An amazing place to spend time with someone. The plants are beautiful. You do have to pay for the train and cable car, but besides that, the park is large. You can buy a combination ticket to go the tower, and the views are also gorgeous.

Linda — Google review

Beautiful park. Worth seeing in every weather condition. I guess in summer must be the best. But even now in winter we had a beautiful walk with my doggie❤️🦮. Cost 2€ the entry. What I do not understand is that you need to be vaccinated to enter even though all restaurants are closed during the winter🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️.

Misscheca — Google review

Pretty nice but overrated park on the outskirts of Dortmund. It costs €3.50 to enter and you can't even get on top of Florian Turm. There aren't a lot of sights inside of the park apart from a lake and the Japanese garden which is cool. I haven't seen such garden. However, everything else is just normal and you will find it in every public park. Also, all restaurants and shops are closed. However, there are many different kinds of trees and flowers, it is really calm and there are a lot of attractions for kids.

Martin Zagorov — Google review

I recently visited Westfalen Park in February and was impressed by its vast green space and numerous children's play areas. Although the railway and boats were closed during the winter season, it remained a fantastic park for children to explore and enjoy. Additionally, the park offers great opportunities for jogging and staying active.

Khalid Nazeri — Google review

Ticket price for an adult:3.5 euros (just walk in the park)5.5 euros (+ climb the tower). There is a real train on the territory. The duration of the route is about 15 minutes. Ticket price for an adult is 5 euros, for children under 4 years - free. There are toilets, cafes, playgrounds. There is no alcohol in the cafe.

Vladyslav Zelenskyi — Google review

Beautiful big park for kids to have the best time of their childhood. So much area to explore and play. The parents can of course relax and have a nice picnic while the kids enjoy the play area

Laya Suresh — Google review

Nice place to walk around and relax. Good view from the tower.

Sergiy Osypenko — Google review

Beautiful place! Perfect for having a nice picnic. Many different places made within the Park. Can have a pretty walk and even enjoy nice icecream. ✨️

Afifa Sofia Khan — Google review

Although I'd rebel against a tax for entering a PARK, i must say it's worth it. WC with hot water, a lot of light installations, two subway/u-bahn stations in close proximity, a lot of wildlife, different gardens and overall a calm and beautiful place, not ruined by night gangs of teens.

Marin “SayanMk” Kolev — Google review

Great park. Enjoyed exploring different places in the park. Worth visiting 🙂

Aakash Goyal — Google review

Spring time is one of the best times for the park. We were there in the middle of the day, so it was empty. The food selection is obviously limited more to weekends and summer, but it's always a great place for a stroll.

Kelli Cruz — Google review

A beautiful park. You could spend hours wandering around there. The plants are well-kept. The scenery is really peaceful and pleasant to look at. Perfect place to take beautiful pictures.

Martin Perrin — Google review

Very nice specially if getting up to the tower for 4 euro it worth it

Alaa Shahin — Google review

It was a nice experience. Entry fee is there for both the tower and park...park is beautiful with a gondola ride and trump train... make sure you go there with plenty of time in hand

Paromita Bhattacharjee — Google review

It's very easy to spend a day here. Except from various botanical plants you can enjoy the cable car or take a tour with a small train around the park. There are also cafes and restaurants inside.

One Day Wonder — Google review

A great park to walk around, especially with kids. The entrance fee is 3,5€. Although this is a botanical garden full with many types of roses, the flowers haven't bloomed yet. That was a shame.

The Florianturm is a 720-ft. tall telecommunications tower that provides stunning panoramic views of Dortmund from two observation decks. Unfortunately, only one elevator is currently operational and the café on the upper floors has been closed for several years. Additionally, the binoculars placed there are broken and do not offer any view despite coins being thrown into them.

It's a pretty big amusem*nt park with lots of activities, you should also use the "small" train because you can see how big the park is and get off at different stations. You should definitely drive Florian Tower,

Albrecht Klemm — Google review

Loved the view, loved the place.I am not sure if I was lucky or not. The weather was so bad, wind, rain, and fog, that I couldn't take a proper pictures and the view wasn't clear. But totally worth it.

Mike Kataya — Google review

Incredible view, 3€ entry for person. We went on Friday afternoon and there were only 2 other people on top with us. Can't miss this if you are exploring dortmund, combination with park is worth it.

Overrated tower located in Westfallen Park. You can't reach it without paying the entrance fee for the park of €3.50. Furthermore, you can't get on top of Florian Turm. The tower itself isn't anything special.

Didn't actually go up the tower it was closed. We enjoyed the park where it was located.

A great view of Dortmund

Jonas Haist (Jonas Smelaitis) — Google review

The Florianturn is situated in a large park with costs €4 to enter per person. If you want to go up to the top of the TV tower it costs €3 per person but we'll worth it for the views all around Dortmund. Once you are in the park there are lovely long walks, great place to take the kids for a day out as there are a few play area,s dotted around, or even for picnic, the beautifully kept gardens are lovely to see. There is also a small train that will take you all around the garden, also the have a cable car if you would prefer take you across it, not sure what they charge for them as we didn't use them. There is also a lovely restaurant to stop of for a lovely lunch, the prices are reasonable. Easy access to all toilet areas for those who have a disability.

The water park is a top favorite for my son! He absolutely loved it. It’s well equipped and fun. There’s an area with sand and also with hard cover flooring so that’s good. There’s food stands about 5 minutes away from the water park and the walk around the area is absolutely beautiful. All the flowers, butterflies and everything made the day really beautiful.

This place is really cool. Well structured, safe, clean with endless hours of (non-screen time) fun for kids! The gardens are immaculate, beautiful and well taken care of. They’re complimented by an array of statues that pay homage to the history of the site. The butterfly enclosure is beautiful and houses numerous species from around the world.

I’ve never seen so many different designs of playgrounds in one park! Both me and my kids enjoyed this park a lot. There’s a little dining area by the lake, you can order Fries and bratwurst and Currywurst there.

Really enjoyed the park with our kids! A lot of different playgrounds and garden themes in an former industrial coal mining area. Clean park and good conditions of playground equipment. Will definitely come back with the family when around.

This is a neat place to visit if you have time and want to see the giant glass elephant, but honestly not worth the time to get over there for much else. It’s a great place for kids as there is a ton for them to do, but not as much for adults.

A beautiful park open everyday to people who wish to visit. The buildings are beautiful from the outside, but because this is a school and not a Museum, visitors are not allowed to walk in to. A visit during the weekdays means you get to see the future Finance managers & Econimists of Nordrhein-Westfalen.

Although it looks like a castle this is a school for the tax and finance management studies for that province... you get to roam around the outercircle and surrounding of this premises which has a huge park full of sculptures at its back side and a water body surrounding the castle which has ducks in it. You can only get inside if accompanied by a resident of the building otherwise it's a good walk around surrounding.

This is a very beautiful castle! Unfortunately, we did not have an excursion inside it, but the outside territory is impressive. It's a big green area with a pond and fountain. Not far from you can find the center of the city with cafes and restaurants.

Visited Schloss Nordkirchen on a Sunday with really good weather. Beautiful English garden (Venus island) with lots of statues. Go for some cake 🍰 and a coffee or a beer 🍻 at the Schloss Café in the courtyard. Afterward go for a long walk (Fledermaus Weg) in the nearby forest 🌳 and end up back at the parking lot 🅿️ where you started off.

Bodies of Water

Aasee lake is a popular recreational spot in Munster, offering various activities like boat rentals, walking paths, picnic areas, restaurants and even a zoo & sculpture. It's an ideal place to relax and unwind amidst nature's beauty. The best time to visit is during the evening when the sun sets in the west and gives the area a reddish hue which looks amazing! Visitors can also enjoy boating on the tranquil lake waters.

The place was clean. A very peaceful environment. A very great pathway for jogging and walking.

Yasir Mazhar — Google review

A wonderful lake situated in Munster. A good place to spend time with nature.

Hello. I am just asking,.. I am a tourist, and I am looking for a place to make a grill. A friend of mine told me that here I can make a grill near the lake. Is it true? Thanks!

Beautiful lake. There is facility of boating in the lake which costs around 10Euro. You can sit near the lake and see the ducks and other birds. Around the lake, one can go for walk or jogging.

Beni Godoi — Google review

Hardly ten minutes on foot from Prinzipalmarkt, Aasee is a 40-hectare man-made lake beginning on cusp of the old town and continuing southwest for over two kilometres. The lakefront is cushioned by a broad band of inviting parkland, laid with lawns, trees and public art, and travelled by cyclists, joggers and strolling families. There are restaurants and cafes at regular intervals and a raised terrace in the modern complex on the north shore, where you can also hire a pedal boat for self-navigated trip around the lake.At this spot you’ll find the jetty for SOLAARIS, a solar-powered boat that ferries people from the city centre to the Allwetterzoo on the west shore.

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

Allwetterzoo Münster is a spacious zoo showcasing an African habitat for zebras and elephants, in addition to offering animal petting and penguin feeding. The exhibit is larger than the local Brooklyn zoo and features impressive spaces for animals. Ongoing construction suggests that the facilities will continue to expand, making it deserving of support for its good work.

Beautiful environment categorized and signboards to guid towards the location of animals you might be interested and also indoor and outdoor view available for animals if you couldn't catch them outside you'll find them hanging around inside, beside there is zoo shop where you can buy t shirts jewelry, toys.. and some burger and ice cream inside the zoo.

We had a brilliant day visiting here! The zoo is clean and tidy. The animals are well looked after and cared for. The staff are super friendly. There's lots of things to see and do. Lots of amazing playparks scattered around the park. We were able to feed the elephants - free of charge! And also the little parakeets. They have a few walk in enclosures, goats and lemurs. The whole day was fantastic! I would highly recommend visiting here! Children of all ages and adults would have a great time!

Jamie Williams — Google review

Münster Zoo is always worth a visit. But saying that it would be even better when the building projects are finished.

Kevin Pickett — Google review

Most of the animals seemed really healthy and most enclosures were well kept. Some of the animals were a bit tricky to spot and we found ourselves searching to no avail. A better viewing location could be of use there.I found the prices to be a bit high, but havent visited a zoo since Covid, so things might be different now.Other than than the park was clean and suited for people with buggy s or wheelchairs. Had a nice day!

tom hoekstra — Google review

Beautiful zoo, nog variety in animals, just a bit unlucky that we got there late and they were closing early because of a special event. And it is great you can bring your dog into the Zoo!

Wendel Hayen — Google review

It is good place for a day tour. Zoo is clean and nice. If you have a big group it will be fun. Don't miss the aquarium.

Sharmin Rahman — Google review

Considering the 4 star ratings I viewed here, I visited Allwetter zoo on August. The tickets charged was high because it didn't reach the expectations. They should keep location marker or provide with a map so that people don't miss any aspects and it guides more efficiently in navigating. Area is very big. Poorly maintained. Animals looked starved, unenergetic, gloomy.Good thing, even if animals looked unhealthy, we were able to see some lions, tiger, elefant, giraffes, zebras, pandas, which seem to be rare visuals here. Some reptiles weren't available to view or removed but placards were still posted.Overall, it's okay to visit but dont keep high expectations.

Annette Raju — Google review

This winter in the early but dark hours of the evening you can visit the zoo - not to watch animals - of those you could only really see pelicans, but to watch great light installations, dipped into an eerie fog.It was a great experience and took about an hour - with all the photographing and stuff 😉Obviously you can get food and drinks, cold and hot, at about 7 way points. If you are in the area, I can recommend the visit, but I wouldn't drive that far, unless you REALLY like light 😅

Alexander Gaus — Google review

I have mixed feelings with this Zoo. On the one hand the animals look physically healthy (maybe not mentally). However my biggest concern is the VERY SMALL space assigned even for Big animals like Rhinos, Elephants, Felines. You can see sadness in their eyes!

Iván — Google review

I really liked this zoo. The parking lot is very big so there's enough space to park your car. Another benefit are the parking- and entrance fee which aren't very high. The zoo is quiet big and offers hours of fun! They are building something near the entrance which will be done in 2022. I'm very curious and will definitely visit the zoo once this is done. There are various species of animals in this zoo and especially quiet a few different species of big cats. I love big cats which makes this zoo amazing! Most animals do have a good amount of space, but not all of them. For example the lions. Their habitat isn't the size it should be.And I think that some animals habitats are a bit doll. This zoo is also great if you have children. There are a lot of playgrounds where your children can play. There are also enough toilets throughout the whole zoo and a lot of different points where you can buy some food.I had a great time in this zoo and that is why I would recommend it to others.

Linne de Groot — Google review

Wonderful museum! The animals are well taken care of and live in clean environment. It's opened 365 days a year. I must say really enjoyed the penguins 🐧 🐧..they are so adorable! Would definitely come back.

Prinzessin Nature — Google review

Great experience, totally worth the price. Loved how curious are orangutans. Take at least three full hours to go through it at fast pace. It has a lot more animals than what I expected. One can see they care about the animals for they put a lot of toys and activities for them. Crazy how some gorillas look like actual people. Would highly recommend!

Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez — Google review

This zoo is a lot bigger than I expected from the way that some of the locals had talked about it prior to my showing up. Based on the number of big animals here, this exhibit is larger than my local Brooklyn zoo.I got to witness the majestic elephants eating in a moment that words cannot do justice. I was highly impressed with the spaces for the animals. I didn't even check out the souvenir spot as I was too tired after spending hours here and they have some major construction going on so I'm guessing that the spaces shall be expanding. The good work being done here deserves support!

The Wochenmarkt Münster - Interessengemeinschaft der Marktbeschicker Münster Westf. is a lively open-air market, held twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The market offers an array of fresh produce, including meats, seafood, bread, and pastries. There are also cut flowers and plants for sale. Visitors are advised to arrive early to avoid crowds as the market gets busy after 10am.

A big weekly market with the background of classical beautiful Münster cathedral. Large varieties of fish, meat, fruit, vegetables, flower, food and beverage kiosks. The weekly market available on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Delicious choices of food and beverage. Lovely atmosphere to be explored.

Drove in for 9am to beat some of the crowds. Had to wait 5mins for a parking space right next to the market but more parking is available a short distance away.Well worth a visit, so much fresh food - fish, meats, bread and pastries as well as plants (both cut flowers and growing ones!)It got a lot busier after 10am so arrive early if you can. The rest of Munster was also great to have a stroll around

It's quite expensive. Produce is fresh depending on which vendor you go to. They start early in the morning and wrap up mostly by 12:00/13:00 hrs. They mostly only accept cash.

Almost each and every products were very expensive for obvious reasons as those were being sold by the growners directly but still the atmosphere was enchanting and the Kibbling (fish-fritters) was very delicious .

The biweekly farmers market of Münster is the perfect opportunity to get fresh and often local produce to prices, if you chose the right place to buy, that put supermarkets to shame. There is a wide variety of everything from the simple to the exotic. Add to that the many foodstalls that carter to almost any taste and you have a perfect example of what a market should be.

Sights & Landmarks

St.-Paulus-Dom is a Romanesque cathedral dating back to the 1200s. The Gothic-style church spans an impressive 108 meters and features intricate details both inside and out. Notably, the cathedral boasts a unique astronomical clock that runs counterclockwise, which is an impressive attraction worth seeing. Additionally, St.-Paulus-Dom houses three organs for music enthusiasts to enjoy.

St. Paul's Cathedral is a 108 metre long structure built over a apan of 40 years in the 1200s. The entire build of this gigantic church is a typical representative of Gothic style. There are three organs here and the Astronomical clock is an attraction worth seeing.

Abhijeet Lokhande — Google review

One of the most beautiful churches I've ever seen. The architecture, the stained glass windows, the art inside are just amazing. The astronomical clock was my favorite part.

Larysa Cohen — Google review

Mark Mullaney — Google review

The cathedral was destroyed during the war and reconstructed.Free entrance but take into account that if there's any activity inside you can't enter and you have to wait.

Bibiana PR — Google review

Incredible cathedral. It was damaged during the war and throughout the years. I like how it displays pictures of how it was look like with the damages and how it was restored and rebuilt to today’s shape. Inside the cathedral there are many chapels of which each of them shows different design and decorations. The most beautiful and impressive thing inside the church is the astronomical clock. It’s kept the original form and calendar which was built in 1600’s. It’s amazing to see how complicated the mechanical system was back then.

Aggie Wang — Google review

This church is so wonderful. You see a lot of history and the spirit of the middle age. It is free and you can walk around. What at the clock in the church. It is very special.

Alex Sei — Google review

Very beautiful building. The only downside is that all the church wealth is inside and people are in the cold and outside begging for food. Maybe cater more to the people around the church than the visitors.

Rene Pover — Google review

Paulus-Dom is the cathedral church of the Catholic Diocese of Münster in Germany, and is dedicated to St Paul. It is counted among the most significant church buildings in Münster and, along with the City Hall, is one of the symbols of the city. The Astronomical Clock in Church. The Astronomical clock is the very best and very spiciel. Easter is the first sunday after the first moon. we can know the moons phases 6 weeks in advanced. i took photo this clock please see the clock. its wondering.

Natural pools are awesome idea, and here you can see it from first hand. Idea to have thise big fish is what bring me in. And I must say its so cool to have natural pools without chemicals with fish inside. Its proof that works on both ways, for aquarium and for pools. Place is big enough to spend a nice day there.

Bear Heart (:zo.) — Google review

It's cool spot for scuba diving, though I think the tunnels are a bit same-y in appearance. Very large, tame fish that just swim right up to you. Good facilities and safety instructions, though they have trouble communicating in English. The dive spots is quite a distance from the parking spots, and a bit uphill too, but there's a cart you can borrow free of charge to make it easier to carry your gear up.

If you go during the week, the water has a great visibility. It's easy to spend one hour under water, since you really can see tons of things. If you are looking for a place to dive into car history, attending this place is a must. Here you can find cars, produced as early as in 1900's, legends of German, French, American automotive industry and grasp how cars had evolved thoughout decades. All the cars here are operable. The exposition is not static, different cars are brought here by their owners to be displayed, so if you come here once in a while you'll never see same collection. If you are lucky enough you might even talk to one of the car owners. My family and child were excited to talk the owner of Ferrari Dino.. If you have a chance to talk to one of the museum co-owners, Mr. Heiner Rossler, from him you can hear many interesting facts about cars that you haven't known before. Cafe on the first floor offers good coffee and pies.

As a family with a 5 year old son, we found it to be an excellent choice. We decided to purchase the year ticket, which turned out to be great value for money as we were able to visit multiple times throughout the year. The cafe was also excellent, serving up classic German fries and sausage which we thoroughly enjoyed. There was ample parking available, which made our visit hassle-free. The sky walk was definitely the highlight of our trip - the views of the animals and surrounding area were simply breathtaking. The playgrounds were also fantastic and provided a fun and safe environment for our son to play in.Overall, we highly recommend Osnabrück Zoo to anyone looking for a fun and educational day out. A beautiful tourist spot, gothic architecture, in the city center. It really worth to go for a walk here as there are plenty of beautiful places to visit.
